Bad Schandau

This small German town, is accessed from the railway station by a ferry. From the town you can then take a tram into the forested interior, with the rocky outcrops rising from the forest. Makes you wonder where the dinousaurs will appear!. The trails are great, and numerous, not to mention some metal ladders that take you up to the top of a rock stack, that leads you onward to another trail. Climbers use some of the rocks, and it can get quite exciting if you are there in a major electrical storm!!!!!

To the south via road on the east side of the river Elbe you reach the Czech town of Decin. On the west side of the river, the railway also links to Decin, where the river is called the Labe.

Tourist boats may be on the river. The two pictures after the butterfly are in Decin, in the Czech Republic. The small boat is the ferry from the station, shown side on view with the jetty in the foreground, and tourist boat behind.
